If a student needs to be pulled out of a class they will be sent to the “Thinkery.” This will be a location where they can fill out the Action Plan and reflect on their poor behavior (Claassen, 2008).
Sometimes students just need a space for them to “cool down.” I will set up a place for students to go when they need to be removed from the class. This might be a counselor's’ office, the library, another classroom, the nurse's office, or in serious cases, the AP’s office (Villa, Thousand, and Nevin, 2013).
I will try to pull the student aside when their behavior needs to be addressed. I do not want to give them more attention by broadcasting their behavior in front of the entire class, or even embarrass them (Curwin and Mendler, 1999).
Students will be encouraged to form a group where they can vent their frustrations about school and even work to fixing injustices (Olsen, 2009).
