Sometimes all it takes is a call home. This may give the parents awareness of how their student is behaving in class. The calls do not have to be solely when a student is bad, but it may be to congratulate a student on exceptional behavior (Wong, 2013).
If a student’s behavior is not changed after visiting the “Thinkery,” the teacher will hold a family conference. All of the student’s family members will be asked to join, as well as important figures in their life. This meeting will be focused on creating positive change (Claassen, 2008).
It may also be beneficial to call a “Student Success Team” meeting. In this meeting we will meet with administrators, teachers, parents, coaches, etc. to form a plan to help the student succeed (Buffum, Mattos, & Weber, 2010).
